Due to a lack of entries in the two contests I had going in June, Nick S. from New Zealand has won both. Despite not having direct competition, Nick came up with designs that would likely have beaten almost any effort put forth. The designs are true to the blog and are very clever in the techniques applied by their designer. You'll notice that the banner already changed a few days ago. Below are the designs from Nick's entry. A big thanks to Nick for his efforts and I hope he will look forward to a good collection of prizes even if they may take awhile to come from overseas. Just remember that next time you can drop in an entry because you never know if you might win something like a CD, DVD, t-shirt or something else.

yeah that's good nice work Nick S
wow..using the wildstyle photos for a hip hop blog..how original!
wow someone with nothing positive to say how fucking boring
Really dope!
Indeed great skills.
Anon 2. That's some bullshit. If you knew what the old banner was, maybe that would help. I'm gonna agree with Anon 3. Troll--very original these days.
Yeah you don't need bad vibe merchants with nothing to say except a load of rubbish.
RIP IZ THE WIZ.

Well....I think the kid did nice work. I can't design jack squat on a computer and it's nice that someone literally on the other side of the world took the time to do this in exchange for only a chance at winning some stuff. (I'm sure he couldn't have known he was going to win when he fired off the email with these images on it.)
Besides...when designing a logo, I'd think you'd want something that could bring a common thread through a bunch of related, but not necessarily similar, topics.
I think this logo covers all of those bases and STILL manages to include Fab 5 Freddy. (That dude is EVERYWHERE!!)
wow, superdupermegafantzsicozot
hi guys, i'm the designer of these..
thanks for the compliments. haha yeah i have no doubt wildstyle has been referenced to death as a source for graphic inspiration when it comes to anything hiphop, it's perhaps the most iconic piece of imagery the genre has..? Up there anyway.. As you'll remember the last logo for the blog was a wildstyle wall pic, & so basically the first thought i had when i read the comp was to keep that alive and rewrite the words, then i thought i could take it a bit further and insert it into some real world photos. It seemed appropriate, i certainly wasn't copying anything i've seen before, although i'm sure countless others have come up with similar reworkings. Hiphop by it's very nature revolves around the practice of sampling & reinventing, and not always with groundbreaking originality..
So that wasn't intended, it was just a bit of fun, welcome to be used if wanted. I did have other ideas i would have gotten on to if i'd found the free time.
So long as the blog's author is feelin it enough to want to roll with it, i'm happy. Plus, good photoshop practice & won me some goodies haha.
Cheers, nick.
Not much changed with the old one, gives me that trusted feeling.
Looks good indeed, it's so simple but affective.
Small change is sometimes better than a big makeover.
btw: sorry for my absense lately, I have to much going on that is a bit more important than posting here
dont punish me Dom :P
Good job and congrats mate
I was meaning to enter this myself but never got the time. Maybe when I get the chance i'll send something in to dom anyway to use on a t-shirt as a thanks for the blog!
GREAT JOB!
