J- The comps were Vs. and all three had different themes. Good comps but one of them was a bit too short
C- If you take a listen just before the contest started, you might have a moment of clarity, even on a hot day.

I got all but one of the vocal ones, The instrumentals will be a bit tougher.

i'm struggling big time! i can name 11, 4 others i've heard or had but can't remember and the rest are new to me.
I got 15 thusfar...
I'm having trouble still with:
D, E, J, K, M, O, Q, R, S, W and Z
Especially the instrumentals are tough...
Just remembered E :-)
It's really frustrating that I know the original songs they use/copy on M, but have no idea what this (great sounding though) mix is...

OK, I got 24 of 26. The last two unknowns for me are:
J & S
I got a good idea what album "J" is on, but I can't find a downloadable version to verify my hunch.
"S" seems like it should be a piece of cake, but again I can't find anything to verify what I think it is.
PLease take a look at the note I made on song "S" in the post above just recently, may help. As for your hunch. May as well try it out and send it in. If it's right, you win. If not, I'll let you know right away. Well right away in the morning that is. Time for bed pretty quick here.
I sent in my list. Took an educated guess at "S", and a complete stab in the dark at "J". Fingers crossed.....

I think I found S, so still 5 (J, K (I know it, but can't remember the record), Q, W and Z) to go.
But since these are all completely new to me, I have no idea how to find them...
Especially the hardrock style song is a complete mystery to me. And of course all the instrumentals.
Respect to Doc for his acomplishment!
Discogs is an essential resource. The hardrock song has a famous lead vocalist, at least where I come from. The contest is still rolling but a few people are very close to the end.

Agreed. They sound a lot alike. But yeah that clue was important. I think when the last one is figured out, some people might be disappointed they didn't catch it with the clues in the post.
only battle comps I can think of were Ultimate Trax and I couldn't see that track on my albums

Regarding the hint for Z "Weaver and Allen (What Does it Mean?)"
The only relationship between 'weaver' and 'allen' i can find is Sigourney Weaver and Tim Allen, who played together in Galaxy Quest. But i doubt that's the hint...
Your search engine should be Discogs and then you can search for Weaver or Allen, then the rest makes sense and with a little effort you'll find something that rhymes with track.
Ok, thanx again for the hint, I got the artist for Z (yes it was stupid not to think of this before!) Now to find the right song...
Damn, I had this (Z) record, but just dodn' remember it! :-(

I had to put J on cause I knew it would even the playing field quite well. I had the comp back then, still do and also the album it originally was on and must have listened to it hundreds of times over the years. It looks like a two or three horse race now! Bring it home!!!!

A well, it was a nice challenge.
by the way, what comp was "J" on. I never found it. After DJ Bite found "J" I took another part of the clue & ran with it to get the answer. Kinda needle in the haystack style.
It was on Battle of the D.J.s on Jive. The third of the "Vs" series.

Ahhh...I searched & found it now. In the clue you said "Too Short" so I went thru my Too Short mp3 collection, found nothing. Then I remembered I had "Born to Mack" in my record bag. IN MY RECORD BAG!!! I never ripped it 'cause I already had it. Thanks for the contest, bro. I had a blast...and an aneurysm ;-)
